Martin Gangnier

Chair | HR & Governance Committee

Martin is the head of licensing at Re:Sound Music Licensing Company, a national not-for-profit that represents and safeguards the rights of music creators. He is responsible for all licensing activities and results which include outreach and awareness campaigns, business development, sales, customer service as well as major partnerships and agreements. Prior to joining Re:Sound, Martin held various sales and marketing position in the hospitality industry, including with the InterContinental, Sofitel, Hilton and Fairmont hotel chains. Martin has also been a competitive hockey coach and coordinator for the YMCA.

Steve Greenidge


Steve serves as our Chair of the Finance Committee and Treasurer and is the Director of Internal Audit at Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment (MLSE), a professional sports and events company based in Toronto. He has over 15 years experience in financial accounting with a focus on internal audit and risk management. Steve holds Bachelor Degrees in both Psychology and Business Commerce from the University of Windsor, as well as a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA) designation.

Ben Macintosh

Secretary, Marketing and Development Committee

Ben Macintosh is Manager of Government & Foundation Relations at the Toronto International Film Festival, Inc, and has previously held positions at the City of Toronto and the Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport. Ben brings his expertise in fundraising and stakeholder relations to chair the board’s Marketing and Development Committee. He holds a BA in Art History from McGill University, and a joint MA/MBA in Art History and Arts & Media Management from York University’s Schulich School of Business.

Betsy Chaly


Betsy Chaly is a bilingual marketing and communications professional with almost 20 years of experience in a variety of industries, including media, arts, telecom, government, and education. Currently, she is the Vice President of Communications & Marketing at Indspire. Prior to joining Indspire, Betsy provided consulting support to OCAD University, Tourism Northern Ontario, Waste Diversion Ontario, AIDWYC, and Don River. Previously, she was the head of the marketing and communications departments at SOCAN, the Canada Media Fund, and CanWest MediaWorks, and she held various progressive roles at Bell. Betsy is a member of the International Association of Business Communicators, and she serves on the board of directors of Theatre Ontario. She earned her MBA in International Business from the University of New Brunswick and also holds a BA Honours in Geography and BSc in Biology.

Safwan Javed


Safwan is the co-founder and drummer for the band Wide Mouth Mason. He is also an entertainment and new media lawyer specializing in copyright law at Taylor Klein Oballa LLP. Safwan is a member of the Art Starts Governance & HR committee.
