Platform A is an exciting pilot project and initiative that will test new models for collaboration and resource sharing in the youth and community-engaged arts sectors. Funding for this project is part of the $4 million increase in investment to Toronto Arts Council from the City of Toronto’s 2013 budget.

The Eighth Planet

The Eighth Planet is a Toronto-based muralist crew working this summer in Art Starts’ Graffiti Transformation Project. Follow our six week creative process as we turn Yorkdale Station’s underpass into a public mural for the Neptune community.

Da Lenz Youth Media

A youth driven, multi-media program representing Villaways and Glendower Neighborhoods of Toronto. The program involves 15 selected youth participants ranging in age from 13-20. They meet weekly to explore, extract and analyze the social, economical, educational and other youth identified issues plaguing them and their communities.

The Style Council

A blog writen by the participants of our fashion media program that brings together a collective of emerging writers, stylists, and photographers in documenting their own style, as well as what they see on the very streets they walk. Get updates on the group that created Toronto’s first community-driven Stylebook, which will focused on the unique styles of the Dufferin Eglinton / Oakwood Vaughan communities.

One World: Glendower

A blog documenting the music/recording program conceptualized and designed in its entirety by neighbourhood youth from the L’Amoreaux and Steeles area in Toronto. The program provided youth with the opportunity to work with high profile artists and to experiment with writing, performing, recording and producing their own music.
One World houses a recording studio and program space overseen entirely by youth.
